I was treated to a romantic weekend away at Le Franshhoek Hotel as a little ‘babymoon’ before baby arrives.
We arrived at about 6pm and I went inside while my fiance parked the car. There was no one to assist us in carrying bags from the car to reception, which is fine normally of course but for this 5 star rated hotel I expected it. I walked into reception and was barely greeted by the woman on duty, Line De Wet. I was surprised at not being welcomed seeing as we had confirmed 30 mins before that we were on the way. Her attitude completely changed however when my fiance walked in. Was I chopped liver for that first 5 mins ? lol
The decor in the reception and entertainment areas of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. I can’t say the room decor is anything special but they do have everything you need such as tea & coffee facilities, complementary water bottles, hairdryer etc. Including a Nespresso machine for coffee addicts!
The bathroom is nice and spacious with a double basin, shower and bath . But I would give it 3 stars – only lacking due to the simple design which looked a bit boring, and the wear and tear on the bathroom cabinets.
Dinner was amazing. The restaurant is simply gorgeous at night with soft lighting and opulent atmosphere. I chose the Prawn Tempura as a starter and the Strawberry and beetroot salad as a main which were both something special. The buffet breakfast spread was also wonderful, offering everything you could want.
The pool area is divine and if it had been warm I would have loved to take advantage of the pool side massages they offered 🙂

Review of Le Franschhoek Hotel
While the accommodation and facilities are great, I don’t think I would choose to stay here again.
I personally prefer a different style hotel (more rustic or unique) and was disappointed with the Spa.
